James Mayor is a British writer and journalist based in Lisbon
With a focus on social change, culture, sustainability and wine, and a special interest in Portugal, James’ work is published in Portuguese and British media, framing the issues of today, from hate speech to early onset Parkinson’s and AI to climate adaptation, through the voice of Portugal’s movers and shakers.
James has been a contributor to JancisRobinson.com, written for Arte Capital, interviewed legacy Douro winemakers such as Dirk Niepoort and Paul Symington (these interviews can be viewed on You Tube), and participated in Michael Portillo’s ‘Long Weekend in Lisbon’. For ‘Portugal Forward’, his column in The Resident, James meets Portugal’s innovators reshaping the future.
Before locating to Portugal, James lived in Paris, owning an art gallery, creating content for the luxury goods industry and translating for world class museums.
