James Mayor is a British writer and journalist based in Lisbon

With a focus on social issues, politics, culture, travel, sustainability and wine, and a special interest in Portugal, James is published in Portuguese and British media, framing the issues of today, from hate speech to early onset Parkinson’s and AI to climate adaptation.

James has been a contributor to JancisRobinson.com, participated in Michael Portillo’s Long Weekend in Lisbon, written for Arte Capital, and interviewed legacy Douro winemakers such as Dirk Niepoort and Paul Symington (these interviews can be viewed on You Tube). For ‘Portugal Forward’, his column in The Resident, James meets Portugal’s innovators shaping the future.  

James lived for many years in Paris, owning an art gallery, creating content for the luxury goods industry and translating for major museums.
